"Iceland Express is a budget airline, offering daily low-fare flights between Reykjavík and destinations in Europe. We fly daily from Copenhagen and London Stansted, and three times a week from Frankfurt Hahn. We have no length-of-stay restrictions, no Sunday rule, easy online booking and e-ticketing.
History
Iceland Express started flight operations on 27 February 2003, becoming the first Icelandic low-fare airline. From the beginning we have had daily flights connecting Reykjavík with London Stansted and Copenhagen, and in May 2005 we added three flights a week to Frankfurt Hahn.
Since the arrival of Iceland Express on a market formerly dominated by one airline, prices have dropped dramatically on our routes. We now carry close to 300 000 passengers a year — more than the entire population of Iceland.
Ownership
Iceland Express is a privately held company, owned by Icelandic investors Fons eignarhaldsfélag hf.
Staff
Iceland Express is efficiently operated by a dedicated staff of around 100, based in Reykjavík, Keflavík, Copenhagen, London and Luxembourg. Numerous activities are outsourced, amongst them handling and check-in at airports.
Operations
Our fleet consists of 162 seat Boeing MD-80s. JetX, an Icelandic company, handles flight operations."
